Medford Open Streets

Medford Open Streets

Open Streets initiatives temporarily close streets to automobile traffic, so that people may use them for walking, bicycling, dancing, playing, and socializing. With more than 130 documented initiatives in North America, open streets are increasingly common in cities seeking innovative ways to achieve environmental, social, economic, and public health goals.

OUR VISION

People traffic replaces car traffic – and the streets become ‘paved parks’ where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds can come out and improve their physical and mental health.

Medford Open Streets is different than a block party or street fair. It is part of a broad effort to encourage physical activity, and help people meet, make social connections, and re-imagine the City as a place to walk and bike for transportation.

Medford Open Streets will promote healthy active living through a free community event opening the city’s largest public space - its streets - to walk, bike, roll, and discover active transportation while fostering civic pride, stimulating economic development, and showcasing the diverse community, business, and government investments in Medford.

We hope you’ll join us this year and enjoy your City from a different perspective. Come wander at Open Streets and have some fun! You can even bring your dog.
